Home > Moving Tips > Moving Your Antiques
Your antiques are prized and valued possessions, so naturally you want to give them the best protection possible during your move. Each piece that is of extraordinary value should be appraised, photographed and even video taped for your records. At the time of the moving cost estimate, be sure to point out any high value or fragile items so that advance arrangements can be made for crating, and special packing can be made. Remember that crating adds weight to your shipment, which in turn increases the cost. At this time you will also want to discuss the amount and type of valuation needed to protect your antiques and whether they should be listed on our High Value Inventory form. Before you pack your antiques, check for any special cleaning that might be required for them. But, do not use any type of oil or wax product on wood furniture prior to moving because some products can soften the finish of your wood. It is very important that you or your representative be present on packing and moving days, as well as on the dates of delivery and unpacking, in order to answer any questions and sign any forms that are necessary. |
